Particularly when dealing with saturation and damp issues, sometimes what is needed is to find out what type of water is causing the problem. Has it come from a mains pipe, or rain water, or from a field drain, could it be from a waste pipe? We can analyse water samples to detect if these are tap water, waste water, rain or ground water. We can also test sample of surface salts or even damp wallpaper.
The test takes just a few minutes. A colour change will indicate whether or not certain nitrates and chlorides are present or not present. Tap water contains chlorides, rain water does not, sewerage contains chlorides and nitrates where ground water only contains nitrates.
